What is The Teenage Market? Read the full story here

The Teenage Market was created in 2012 by teenage brothers Joe and Tom Barratt as an event where young people could have a free stall in Stockport Market to sell their creative products.

The event also gave a platform to young performers who wanted to showcase their skills, including singer-songwriters, musicians, dancers, performers, filmmakers and comedians.

The event was held on Sunday 1st April 2012 and turned out to be an amazing success. Thousands of people from all over the North West came to The Teenage Market, bringing a new sense of vibrancy, diversity and energy to the area.

Since then The Teenage Market has expanded as an initiative, taking place at Seven Miles Out Music and Arts Festival in Stockport Market.

The Teenage Market also became a 'pop-up' shop in empty retail units around Stockport town centre, including at The Glass Umbrella during the What the Dickens! event in Stockport Market.

There are lots of exciting plans for The Teenage Market in 2013 including; a bi-monthly Teenage Market TV episode which focuses on one young stallholder, performer and celebrity each time, a series of big Teenage Market events in Stockport Market Hall and the chance to run your very own Teenage Market!

So stay tuned!
