Middleton Teenage Market at MayFest

The Teenage Market returns to Middleton as part of Middleton MayFest.

Our second market of 2026 will be taking place outdoors in the grounds of St Leonard’s Church Square during Middleton MayFest.

A great opportunity for young people to turn your hobbies in to cash by hosting a stall. It is free to take part.

Middleton MayFest is a free annual community event that will take place at St Leonard’s Church Square and in Jubilee Park on Monday 4th May 2026 from 12pm until 5pm. Packed with traditional family fun with live performances, music, maypole dancing, circus, mini-sports, fairground rides, games, crafts, food & drink, face painting and lots more.

You can sell anything - no idea is a bad one. Items which are handmade by you sell the best. Here are some examples of stalls from previous markets to give you a flavour of what works well:

- Crochet and knitted textiles
- Artwork - paintings and photography
- Cards
- 3D Printed toys
- Jewellery
- Candles and wax melts
- Hair accessories
- Second hand clothing
- Second hand books

Please note that if you are selling food that is to be consumed by members of the public you will need to be a registered food business, registered with your local council and have obtained the necessary training on allergens and food hygiene certificates. This includes selling pre-packaged food, not just food you bake or cook yourself. If you are doing a service which involves directly touching members of the public like face painting, henna or hair dressing - you will need to get your own public liability insurance, training and necessary risk assessments completed. If you need more information on this contact us on the email address below.

We are here to help guide you on how to get the best from your stall. Maybe you are already selling your creations and want some advice on how to turn it into a profitable business? We can help introduce you to experts who can offer tips and tricks in growing your business.

We will be running in person workshops to support stallholders on the lead up to the market. More information to follow.

If this sounds like you then send in your application today!

How to apply?
First make a trader profile or performer profile on this website. If you want a stall, upload plenty of photographs of what you will be selling and and give us a clear description of the products. Make sure to also include which payment methods you will accept.

Once you have created a profile make sure to sign back in and search for this specific event. As long as you have logged in and have a trader profile a button will appear to say apply to trade or perform at the market.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday 22nd April 2026.

Make sure you have hit apply no later than Sunday 19th April - otherwise the button disappears!

We may email you with some follow up questions too so make sure to keep checking your email inbox. It may take us a little time to get back to everyone, so if you are not accepted straight away do not worry. All applicants will have heard back from us no later than Monday 27th April 2026.

Who can get involved?
By young people, we mean anyone aged between 13 – 25 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 will need to be supervised by a carer or guardian.

We want to prioritise anyone from the Rochdale borough but if you live in Greater Manchester or the North West of England you can still apply.

The opportunity is open to all levels of experience. If you have never done a market before we will support you with how to set up a stall, and all the other logistics around becoming a market trader.

We will try to give everyone a place who applies by the above deadline. However, if we have had more applications than we have places for, priority will be given to people who live in the Rochdale borough with clear and detailed profiles explaining what they are selling with attached photographs.
