Information

The Market today is as vibrant and eclectic as ever. On Wednesday’s and Saturday’s every week over 70 stall holders get to Mold early from all over Wales, Shropshire & the North West of England, building their stalls and displaying a diverse range of products to interest the thousands of regular customers and visitors alike.

Mold’s Street Market was established after the town was founded in around 1100 by Britain’s Norman conquerors, who drew up the layout of the High Street wide enough to accommodate market traders and beast sales. Extending from the Cross to Bailey Hill, the stalls initially fronted the shops of merchants and tradesmen. Later a ‘beast market’ arrived in Grosvenor Street. A 1653 survey for the then Lord of the Manor, Earl of Derby, includes details of two fairs which would have been held in the High Street. While the annual fairs are no longer held, the tradition of the twice-weekly street market continues to this day.

With such a long history and the addition of a permanent Indoor Market, Mold has managed to maintain a very supportive group of traders and customers in a time when most other town markets are in decline.

The support of the local customers from Mold and the surrounding areas is second to none and even in adverse weather conditions they attend the Market in there droves to support the hardy traders who make the market an attraction throughout the year.

The range of products on offer is one of the reasons this market is set apart from the others.

There are numerous fresh food stalls such as Bakers, Butchers, Fishmonger, Eggs, Honey, Green Grocers, Cheese, Olives and much more.

It certainly doesn’t stop at food however and whether it’s Plants, Flowers, Gifts, China, Key Cutting, Garden Ware, Sunglasses, Cards, Pet Goods, Welsh Gifts, Soft Furnishing, Rugs, Wool, Toys, Jewelry, Underwear or a vast choice of Clothing and Fashion it really does go on and on and there are always new stalls to see throughout the year too.

The Market prides itself on being a quality shopping environment, managed by Flintshire Council so all traders are professional with high standards to ensure customers peace of mind.

So whether it’s the Street Market, the Indoor Market or the beautiful town of Mold with it’s choice of Chain Stores, Coffee Shops, Cafes, Independent Shops and ample cheap parking there is certainly a great day out right on your doorstep.
