Nuneaton is a market town in the Nuneaton and Bedworth district, in northern Warwickshire, England, close to the county border with Leicestershire to the north-east.

Nuneaton gained its name from a medieval nunnery which was established in the 12th century, when it became a small market town. It later developed into an important industrial town due to ribbon weaving and coal mining.

Surrounding towns which look to Nuneaton include Bedworth, Atherstone and Hinckley. Tamworth is a nearby rival urban centre.
